Ten miles south of Dixon is a beautiful preserve of vernal pools and native bunchgrasses called Jepson Prairie Preserve. It is home to Olcott lake which is a 93 acre playa lake, and many endangered, threatened and rare species. It is one of the only remaining vernal pool and bunchgrass prairie left in California.
