Davis Life Magazine

On Sunday, October 17, 2010, I joined 19,999 other women in the Nike Women’s Marathon (Half and Full) in San Francisco, Californial. This was the third year running the half marathon and the experience keeps getting better and better!

Even though the summertime brought a lot of changes to our exercise routine, the divas managed to stay in touch and share lots of great memories and fun times together.  One of the divas took her family cross country for 10 weeks and met up with friends and family along the way. In the summer of 2007 I woke up and felt old. I was 59 years old and had let my relatively youthful body get soft and flabby and I was tired every morning.

I moved to Davis from Southern California in 1969 as a 7th grader at Holmes Jr. high school. I know that Jr. high is a hard time for a lot of people but I remember asking my mom “ if life just kept getting better” because I totally and completely loved my new life in Davis.

It is only fitting for our running group to sit the length it took to run our first half marathon (3 hours!) to lunch! The setting is Osteria Fasulo, the date, Thursday, May 20th and the occasion: three of our Divas’ birthdays. I arrived first with cake from our local Nugget Market in hand.
