In two moderately sized rooms with no ellipticals, treadmills or weights, the Fitness Garage is certainly a unique brand of a gym. Rather than body building, the goal of The Fitness Garage is fitness training via a specific curriculum developed by the current owner, Hideshi Okamoto. Before creating the Fitness Garage about four years ago, Hideshi coached track and field at the University of Colorado. Along with being an official Olympic team coach, he currently is the director of NASE, the National Association of Speed and Explosion, which focuses on improving speed in short sprints to improve performance in sports. "NASE emphasizes core on every single movement and exercise so that we are conscious of using our core with every movement," says Jah Bennet, the head trainer and chief organizer at Fitness Garage. The Fitness Garage is a gym, which completely focuses on core performance training. With more structure than other gyms, the Fitness Garage provides a training plan for those interested in reaching their athletic peaks.
