This year’s Heart of the Home Kitchen Tour, organized by the American Red Cross (ARC) of Yolo County, is in its 8th year. The event is one of two annual fund raisers hosted by the local chapter of the ARC. Proceeds from these events, along with other individual donations, support the organization’s community outreach programs. The kitchen tour has been a celebrated venue to showcase the latest and greatest in new kitchen designs, as well as a source for area contractors and businesses that specialize in home remodel and construction. Anyone thinking of building a new home, remodeling or simply getting new home ideas will find what they need at this well-planned event.
Countless sponsors from Yolo County have generously provided funds to ensure that the ARC can continue to provide assistance, education and disaster relief to local residents. Tracy Shields, director of development for the Yolo County Chapter of the ARC, said the event raised nearly $40,000. Shields extends special thanks to platinum sponsor, PG&E, and gold sponsor, Holiday Kitchens, for helping the event exceed their goal by approximately 14 percent. Of course, the Heart of the Home Kitchen Tour could not have taken place without the numerous volunteers who staffed each house location and were so gracious to all the attendees. If you didn’t get a chance to see the tour this spring, look for next year’s details at www.yc-arc.org.
