When you think of a tattoo parlor, a certain image comes to mind. Urban Body destroys all those stereotypes, getting back to the idea of body art as a highly personal decision, one that should be undertaken only after a lot of thought and some research.

Urban Body, located on 2nd Street is a clean, inviting place. Open from 12 pm until 9 pm every day, it is a great place to go if you've ever considered getting body art done. Their knowledgeable staff can walk you through the process of getting your navel pierced or getting "sleeves," and ensure that you have a positive, unique experience.

Urban Body opened in May of 2001. It is owned and operated by Avishay Shabtai, known simply as Avi. Avi is calm, friendly and unassuming, willing to let others take the lead in a conversation. He emigrated from Israel eight years ago and worked with a body jewelry wholesaler out of New York. Business eventually took him to Berkeley, where he continued to learn about the body art industry. As he became familiar with the area, Davis came on his radar and when he decided to open his own body modification studio, he decided Davis was the ideal location.
