A hidden treasure amongst the apartments, houses and gardens of the Village Homes is Osteria Fasulo. One of only 20 restaurants in the Sacramento area to be rated in the 2009 Zagat Guide for Best American Restaurants, Osterio Fasulo is an island of quiet respite serving traditional family Italian food in an upscale, intimate atmosphere. Owner, Leonardo Fasulo, is as Italian as they come, and demonstrated his warm welcome by offering us small glasses of the Italian champagne, Prosecco, while we reviewed the menu. The Ruggeri Valdaobbaive, $48 per bottle, was cold, crispy and bubbly. Any of the bottles under $50 are served by the glass and, despite the expensive reputation of the restaurant, a number of bottles fell into this price category.
