Dinner and a movie serve as the default Friday night plan and, although entertaining, it’s not the only evening activity Davis has to offer.  Despite the fact that some claim Davis has "nothing to do", Friday nights downtown are hopin’.  Cars loop around, between, and through B and G and First and Fifth - finally there lies one open parking space and a free form of meaningful entertainment

The second Friday of each month, not altering for any three-day weekends or cantankerous weather, is always the ArtAbout.  The ArtAbout is an event in which the downtown Davis art galleries open their doors at 7 p.m., inviting the downtown go-ers in to show their diverse collections that they couple with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres.  "It’s really a gift to the community," said Natalie Nelson, former Sacramento Crocker Art Museum School Programs/Teacher Services Coordinator and current Pence gallery curator/director.  Free of charge, the Davis ArtAbout is a great way to gain exposure to art without feeling intimidated, said Jackie Stephens, long-time Davis resident, frequent ArtAbout-er, and former Davis Art Center director.
