The full acoustic force of a swelling ensemble belting out Beethoven’s 5th Symphony does more than just entertain - it shakes people to the very core. Every single nuance from each individual instrument melds together into a crash of sound; each performance is unique because they can never be reproduced with the same clarity and emotion again. A lot of what music and perhaps even art in general captures, after all, is transient by nature.
In order to produce, or rather, revive, such a staggering antique piece, you’d require a legion of seasoned stony-faced veterans who have long since acquired a degree of mastery over their craft. This is actually a great assumption to have, because when you actually meet these particular artists, you are pleasantly surprised that they are just a bunch of kids in various stages of adolescence. Talent truly does come in many shapes and sizes, and this is the essence of the Davis High School Symphony Orchestra - a sprawling ensemble of approximately 80 members. This group has won countless awards, including the Golden Empire music festival award and nine consecutive years of Superior Music by the State. They have played at Disneyland, and have even gone to New York City to play at Carnegie Hall.
