With Valentines Day rearing its pink and red cute little head in the not-so-far distance, it's time to start thinking creatively about what you can do this year to impress your sweetheart. If you are like me, and this is something you seem to fall just short of year after year, here is a suggestion: think dessert, and lots of it. This month's restaurant review of Konditorei (pronounced Kon-DIT-or-eye), Davis's own Austrian pastry café, definitely has you covered. They have a full selection of desserts, ranging from cakes to sweet crepes, morning pastries, a full lunch menu and an espresso bar.
Originally located on Third Street in Downtown Davis, Konditorei now has its own stylish building on Fifth Street, a couple blocks east of Pole Line road. Because it is not surrounded by businesses in all directions, it's easy to get there and parking is not a problem. It is walking distance from many East Davis neighborhoods.
Our tasting crew on this trip consisted of the staple members: editor, Cary Arnold; her husband, Jon Sanchez; photo editor Ara Arbabzadeh; myself and my girlfriend, Krista. We set upon Konditorei on a surprisingly pleasant January Saturday afternoon in Davis. The sun was shining |
