Drink Special: Here they all are special; I couldn't resist a Thaiphoon, which definitely knocked me off my block with its deathly mix of nearly every kind of alcohol made by man. A round of drinks for two was $14, without tax and tip.
Customers: Undergraduates and graduates - more of the international persuasion, however.

While each bar so far had its attractive points, Sophia's was definitely more our speed. It was a relaxed atmosphere of young students and friends featuring creative cocktails, lounging in clustered seating throughout the bar, and conversation and laughter as the "loud music."

We melted right into the scene and talked to a number of the groups. One graduate student, who said he came to Sophia's about once a week, commented that, "I go to most of the bars in Davis, but Sophia's has the most comfortable chair. It's a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is pretty nice." Another group included a mix of students, international friends and alumni. They buzzed with loud laughter and conversation as they caught up with each other over a table of cocktails, beer and smokes.
