Now that January has arrived, it's time to stick to that New Year's resolution to get back in shape. While everyone else drags themselves back to the gym to do the same old workout routine, why not try something completely new and different? Put 2008 behind and jump into the New Year with incredible strength, flexibility and balance. Now is the time to try yoga, and there's no better place than right here in Davis.

Do some homework.

Doing yoga for the first time may seem intimidating, but doing a little bit of research will go a long way. First and foremost, check out the background of the yoga instructor. Look into what kind of training they have completed and how long the instructor has been teaching. Yoga has no official certification, which makes your background check especially important. Yoga Alliance certification is the closest thing to an official certification for a yoga instructor, but as a new yogi, you'll have to use your best judgment. Look for an instructor that has been through formal training and has a few years of teaching experience.
