This December 9 to 11, 2011 the Vocal Art Ensemble (VAE) will present Solstice: Dance of Light.
The mixed a cappella chorus will perform intimate medieval, renaissance, and modern works, both sacred and secular, on the theme of embracing darkness and light. The chorus will be joined by Ecokinesis Dance Company, a Davis troupe celebrating the human relationship with the natural world through music and dance.
The turning point in the concert will be Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei, a choral setting of his celebrated Adagio for Strings. The concert will also feature piano compositions by local composer Jacob Dunaway and instrumental support from members of the Dolanc String Quartet.
Friday, Dec. 9 at 7:30pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral (2620 Capitol Avenue in Sacramento,)
Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7:30pm at the United Methodist Church of Davis (1620 Anderson Road in Davis).
Sunday, Dec. 11 at 4:00pm at Brunelle Performance Hall (315 W. 14th St. at Davis High School in Davis)
