Happening This Weekend

As Summer Session II looms over my head, I have gotten to thinking “Where did my summer go?” If you feel like your days are passing by with a little too much relaxation and too little excitement, here are some ideas to stimulate your summer.

Friday – July 22nd

California State Fair

Filled with fun rides, great food, exciting exhibits, horse races, and so much more, the State Fair is definitely what’s happening this weekend (and all week, and up until the 31st to be exact)! General admission is $12 but parking is $10, so I recommend you grab the biggest van you can find and carpool out to the fun with your friends and family!

Saturday – July 23rd

Psychic Fair and Healing Festival

Experience healings and readings, learn about auras, and ask some of your burning questions. Entrance and healings are free, with questions answered by psychics at $15/pop. This event will be on both Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 P.M.

Sacramento River Cats Vs. Reno Aces

I have lived in Davis for 4 years and have yet to go to a River Cats game! Maybe this is the weekend… The team plays the Reno Aces all weekend and into next week. Tickets range from $7 – $42.

Old Sacramento Time Travel Weekends – Silent Movie Festival

In the summer, Old Sac is filled with street performers who put on entertaining and theatrical historic re-enactments. Additionally, every Saturday night at the Eagle Theatre there are silent films from the 1900s-1920s, as well as songs, skits and comedy acts. $5 donations are requested at the door and the show starts at 7 P.M.

And of course, there are a ton of hot new summer flicks out. You can always go see the new Harry Potter movie, or Horrible Bosses, or Bad Teacher… Or Friends with Benefits or Captain America which both open on Friday!
