Our House Restaurant and Lounge located at 808 Second Street in Davis is now open! Last week was the “soft opening” and it was a huge success. The restaurant is currently open Monday – Saturday, bar/lounge at 4 p.m. to late, kitchen from 5-10 p.m. with Happy Hour drink specials from 4-6 p.m.
Charlie Swanson and (disclaimer) my husband Jon Sanchez opened the doors for preview parties last Monday and Tuesday and dinner service started a week ago Wednesday. The dinner menu features such items as Ahi Poke, Grilled Artichoke with Rosemary Aioli, Tequila Lime Beef, salads, soups, grass-fed beef steaks like the Filet Steak Au Poivre (cognac, cream and peppercorns) and the Rib Eye Steak with Parsley Oil, Chicken Picatta, BBQ Salmon, Gnocchi, Root Beer Pork Sliders with Carmelized Onions and Horseradish Cream, the chocolate-filled S’more with house-made marshmallows, Lemon Mousse with meringue chips and fresh berries as well as nightly specials. Items will be added to the menu on a regular basis as the kitchen perfects the current items.
The cocktails are made with all freshly-squeezed juices, and on Wednesday and Saturdays, look for Market Muddles, ice-cold cocktails made with the ingredients fresh from the Davis Farmers Market. Yes, it’s farm to glass!
The friendly staff is waiting to meet you and help ensure you have a good time.
Lunches will be added in the next few weeks, followed by Sunday brunch and finally Sunday Supper.

I didn’t want to give the design elements away in this story, but would rather you come in to see the transformation yourself, or if you don’t have time, wait for Diana’s story next week.
Even though I’m the most critical person when it comes to the restaurant’s food as I have very high standards and know how it should taste as they’re Jon’s recipes, I don’t feel it would be fair for me to review the food or service, so come in for yourself and let us know what you think! “Went to the open house yesterday, and I can’t wait to go back. We enjoyed a Sidecar, Lemon Drop, Cary’s Cosmo (gluten free and lots of cranberry) and Mojito, along with fabulous appetizers (the amazing Salmon Poke BETTER be on the menu!) and deserts. It’s the kind of comfort food restaurant Davis will love.”
“Wow, what a cool new place. Haven’t tried the food yet but it sounds amazing. Went in for drinks last night and lounged on the couches, very chill atmosphere. My only complaint is that they charged $11 for a small glass of wine. Holy hell that’s a lot! This is Davis, not NYC! But the well drinks and other cocktails were very reasonably priced, so we’ll be back (just not for the wine). Hope they have happy hour specials coming!”
Owner Charlie Swanson made the following response to the second review: “We have added many great wines starting at $6 a glass plus they are $2 off on happy hour stop by and check out our updated list. We are adding to the wine list daily as the wineries deliver.”
It’s been a huge undertaking, collaboration and labor of love that we’re happy to finally be able to share with you.
