Tonight at 8:30 P.M., in celebration of the Tour de California ending in Sacramento, there will be a screening of With My Own Two Wheels at the Davis Varsity Theater. The film, created by Bay Area filmmaker Jacob Seigel-Boettner, is about how bicycles are impacting the lives of thousands in Africa, India, and beyond. It focuses on five characters across the globe who all interact with bicycles on different levels – from production to use.
The event is sponsored by SiGNa Chemistry’s Alternative Energy Division located in Davis, California. SiGNa Chemistry, Inc., is a green chemical technology company which develops catalysts that make reactive metals efficient, safe, and cost effective. Says Andrew Wallace, VP of the company: “SiGNa welcomes the opportunity to support World Bicycle Relief by sponsoring the showing of With My Own Tool Wheels. SiGNa shares a common goal to improve the lives of people throughout the world.”
Amelia Badish, Inventory and Business Manager at the ASUCD Bike Barn and childhood friend of the Siegel-Boettner, was one of the main planners of the event, stating “I have received a lot of positive insight regarding the event – everyone… thinks that it will be a great movie, benefiting a great cause.”
Proceeds from tonight’s event will be donated to World Bicycle Relief, a development organization which has donated over 80,000 specially designed bicycles to Africans. For more information about the film and the screening check out the Facebook event. Tickets are available here.
