Sienna Restaurant

I likely would not have made the drive up to El Dorado Hills to go to dinner, as there are so many amazing options in Midtown, but I was invited to a girl’s night out, and I couldn’t refuse the offer.  Sienna is a 9,500 square foot restaurant and bar, that reminded me of a big custom built cabin.  There are four fire places, high wooden ceilings, and cozy décor, despite the size.  We were sat at a nice table for four and it was no issue to transfer the bar tab to the table, and the server arrived promptly with our bottle of wine that we’d already begun drinking.

Our server was named Matthew and was quite the character.  He was full of menu knowledge, had a sharp wit, and always seemed to show up right when we needed him.  Let me start off with the wine list.  Ex-cell-ent.  If you are a wine snob like me, and appreciate an excellent glass of red, you will not be disappointed.  We started with a 2008 Frank Family Zin, which was to die for.

For an appetizer, we ordered the Grilled Artichoke to share.  It came with a very pleasantly spicy remoulade and was dusted with seasoned breadcrumbs.  It was delicious!  For dinner, I ordered the Crispy Seared Duck Breast, it was served with Cherry Bread Pudding, a duck port wine reduction & fresh cherries. Matthew brought out a side of parmesan mashed potatoes for me because he said they paired great with the duck.  He was right!  A bite of duck, potatoes and a cherry?  Mmmmm!  Two of the girls, Paula and Dana, ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak which is Sienna’s most popular dish.  It was served with caramelized onions, bleu cheese butter, parmesan potatoes and asparagus.  They both enjoyed the dish, but as far as the steak was concerned, despite it being cooked perfectly, they said they prefer the tenderness of a filet.  However, that didn’t stop them from enjoying their meal!  Rachael ordered the Spice Crusted Ahi Tuna which was seared rare, served with lotus wrapped rice, and had a toasted garlic miso dressing and soy syrup.  She loved it!  With dinner, we had a bottle of 2008 ZD Pinot Noir that once again proved to be fabulous.

I am now a huge fan of Sienna and am already making plans to return for a double date with Kris and some friends of ours!

Sienna is located at 3909 Park Drive, El Dorado Hills in the La Borgata Center, just off of El Dorado Hills Boulevard.  www.siennarestaurants.com
