The new Tres Hermanas Mexican restaurant in downtown Davis just celebrated its three week anniversary. Even though the early reviews on Yelp are that the food is pricey and good, but not great, the restaurant always seems busy.
We tested out the new restaurant for a weekday lunch. They seated us quickly, took our order in a timely manner, and we all loved our food which included the soup, salad with the creamy cilantro dressing, a chicken enchilada with red sauce, a cheese enchilada with mole’ sauce, and the carnitas. The salsa is good. If I had to compare it to anyone else’s salsa, I’d say that it’s closest to El Torito’s.
Yes, the prices are a few dollars more expensive than our local tacquerias, but here you get the full table service and a full bar –A real bar and the ambiance and hustle and bustle that goes with it. Since it was lunch and we were headed back to the office we didn’t try the margaritas, but hear that they’re fantastic and look forward to tasting them soon.
The patio was being redone when we were there, so look for a new outdoor space soon.
Tres Hermanas is located in the old Pasta? Location at 805 2nd Street, and they feature a nightly happy hour from 4-7 p.m. through October, then 3-5 p.m. starting in November with $2 beers and $4 house margaritas. Party on. http://daviswiki.org/Tres_Hermanas
