Hoes Down at Full Belly Farm Oct 2nd – Every year thousands of people flock to Full Belly Farm in Capay Valley to attend this one-of-a-kind event. There are more activities and demos than one could list. They actually put together a small booklet to list the hundreds of different activities and workshops that will be covered. You will find plenty of food and music. Also there is a small farmers market to meet local farmers and buy some goodies. For kids look for the huge hay tower perfect for climbing, they usually have some sort of zipline set up in the orchards, there’s also gourd painting, wreath making, grain grinding, wool spinning, cow milking, and about a million other activities. Local eco-minded organizations and businesses also put on all sorts of hands-on workshops.  On Sunday there is a big communal breakfast followed by another series of tours and workshops at other nearby farms.

Science Wizard – Awesome Air Pressure is featured at the Veteran’s Memorial Center on October 2nd starting at 1pm – Experience the awesome power of air and wind like you’ve never seen before! Explosions, Implosions, Rockets, and More!! Amazing experiments give you a close up look inside tornados, hot air balloons, jet engines, and more!! Advance tickets are $5 (Children 12 and Under) Adults $7, At the door $8. Tickets are on sale at the Community Services Office at City Hall, Armadillo Music, Avid Reader, and Watermelon Music.

Take in an Outdoor Movie: My Big Fat Greek Wedding will be showing at the Community Park (on C Street) on Saturday, October 2nd. Pre-show activities begin at 6pm, and the film will get started at 7:15.

The River City Toy Train Meet is coming on Saturday, October 2. At this event, from 10am – 3pm at the Scottish Rite Center (6151 H Street), you can see and buy toy trains from the past and present along with parts, accessories, and toy train related items. There are lots of operating toy train layouts and displays for the entire family to enjoy. The event is hosted by the Sacramento Valley Division of the Toy Train Operating Society. Club members will be happy to talk to beginners about the hobby of operating and collecting toy trains. Adult admission is $5.00 for single admission, $9.00 for families, and children under 12 are admitted free if accompanied by an adult. 10am – 3pm at the Scottish Rite Center 6151 H Street
