Our Davis Life Magazine Editor, Cary Arnold, visited House Kitchen & Bar last week, as she was eager to try it out. Like Cary, I got wind of House Kitchen & Bar, and immediately knew I had to try it as well! Filling the space where 55 Degrees once was, House Kitchen & Bar is right on Capitol Mall, between 5th and 6th.
My friend Bobbi and I went there on a Friday for lunch. We were seated right away and the place was pretty packed. I had read that patrons were able to get in and out of there over a lunch hour without feeling rushed, and I was interested to see if we’d have the same experience. Turns out, we did! The menu is full of mouthwatering items to choose from and we quickly decided on the Crab Spinach and Artichoke dip for an appetizer. It was served with grilled baguettes and was quite tasty!
For lunch, we were both “good” and ordered salads. It was hard to choosegiven so many options, but I was very happy with my choice. I had the Santa Fe Chicken Salad and Bobbi had the Crab Louise. Both were wonderful!
I am excited to visit House again to try out more of their food and their cocktails! I am particularly interested in the Hazelmint Julep, because it features my favorite bourbon, Woodford Reserve!
