Grab your family and friends and head to Community Park (1405 F Street) this Sunday, July 4th for games, live music and of course, fireworks. The fun begins at 3:00pm. A host of community groups will be offering homemade food and games to raise money for their individual causes.
The Barnyard Theatre Company will have Veggie Skewers, Corn-on-the-cob and Portobello Mushroom Sandwiches. The Sunset Rotary will offer Ribs, Pulled Pork, Potato and Pasta Salad, and Chicken Skewers. The Davis Blue Devils Football, Boy Scout Troop 111, and Davis Youth Softball Association will be among the other vendors and game booths. The festivities continue until 9:25pm when the National Anthem will be played followed by an explosive display of fireworks.
If you prefer to pack your own, check out my food blog, www.vegetarianized.com, for great picnic menu items like: Rosemary Lemonade; Fresh Hummus; Smoked Cheddar Stuffed Lentil Burgers; Parmesan Spinach Muffins…and overwhelmed with zucchini yet? Try a family dessert recipe called Zucchini Brake (part bread, part cake). Happy 4th!
