Join New Belgium Brewing Co. tomorrow, July 23rd, for the Clips of Faith Beer and Film Tour. Beginning at dusk in Central Park, approximately 7:30pm, 20 films and 12 beer varieties will be on hand to enjoy. The first wind-powered brewery in the United States, New Belgium Brewing Co., most known for its 1554 and Fat Tire brands, created Lips of Faith – one dozen beers that “keep the brewhouse a playground by creating tiny batch brews for internal celebrations or milestones.”
Selections I’m looking forward to imbibing include DunkelWeiss 30, Dandelion Ale (made with dandelion greens instead of hops that was inspired by a real shortage of hops in 2008), and Le Fleur, Misseur.
Plan to bring a blanket or chairs and your own food – they say some food will be available, but I’m unsure of the extent and variety. The event is free to the public. Proceeds from beer and t-shirt sales will benefit Davis Bicycles! and the Davis Bike Collective.
The Tour began in Madison, Wisconsin on June 16th and after traveling through 15 cities (including Davis), winds up in Athens, Georgia on October 1st. For a full list of cities and how to submit your film for 2011, go to www.clipsoffaith.com. Photos courtesy of New Belgium Brewing Co. from the Madison Film Tour.
The Early Girl: Foodie Weekend is published weekly on Thursdays so you can get the ‘dish’ on the food-wine weekend events in/around Davis. Find out where else you can find me blogging, writing, teaching, cooking and having other food and wine adventures atVegetarianized.com.
