Hi! I’m Walking Bob and I decided to use my blog to tell you about an event coming up this weekend. I hope you can join me at the Bus and Bike Fest that will showcase “Alternative transportation, both sensible and silly” on Saturday, July 10 on Davis Community Church front porch at 4th & C Street in downtown Davis. In collaboration with Davis’ Bike Fourth, Unitrans, Whymcycles and the church’s Stewards of God’s Creation, DCC invites all who visit the Farmers’ Market to stop by the Bus & Bike Fest for refreshments, children’s crafts and a bit of summertime fun.
A sampling of Peter Wagner’s famous Whymcycles, creatively designed bikes, trikes, and kinetic structures, will be featured.
Unitrans will be on hand with a new double decker bus. Climb aboard and get answers to all your questions about public transportation in Davis.
Bike Fourth will conduct a bike clinic, including bike maintenance and bike checkups. Information on the Voluntary Gas Tax (VGT), the only tax where you decide where the revenues go, will be available.
Enjoy Celtic folk trio Riggity Jig and a special guest appearance by an Acme Theater Company troupe. Children are invited to make laminated reflector cards for their bike spokes.
Inside DCC’s historic sanctuary, a collection of my photos with the theme, “Journeys on Foot, Journeys in Spirit” will be on display. I’m honored to be the first to display in what will become a monthly display of art by local artists.
The fun begins at 10 AM with ice-cold lemonade, watermelon and coffee cake. Stop by, stay and chat, listen and learn more about transportation alternatives that also lightly impact the Earth.
