DLM Main Nav Menu

When you read this…

…this is what I’ll be doing; drinking and eating with my beau, Michael. This picture was taken at the DLM publisher’s (Cary) house in Davis, but I’m in San Francisco right now somewhere celebrating my birthday. Well I will be – truthfully at the moment I’m daydreaming of the weekend ahead as I sit at my desk on Friday morning. Here’s what is in place thus far…

This year’s festivities include dinner at Barbacco in the Financial District. I’m quite excited to try this place because it reminds me of one of my favorite Italian spots in my old neighborhood in Manhattan – the Lower East Side. It’s got fun little apps like marinated olives and toasted almonds, but also a really fall-over, to-die-for Italian cheese menu that have fruit and nut accompaniments. For example, gorgonzola and chestnut honey. If you have never had cheese and honey, prepare to have your mind blown – but in the good way.

Saturday will bring more food and drink – if you keep following me, this will be a routine statement. I’m contemplating Puerto Allegre and Pizza Delfina, both in the Mission. Also Suppenkuchen in my new favorite neighborhood of Cole Valley. German beer – yum, more please. It’ll be hard to wait to be hungry again.

Sunday is game day! The Giants versus somebody. I don’t care so much for who as what and where. Like what are we going to eat? What are we going to drink? Where are we going before the game? After the game? My pre-game stomach is fixed on the 21st Amendment Brewery right near the park. It’s my super girlie weakness, but I must have the Watermelon Wheat beer. If I can remember to ask for no fruit (yes, it’s a big girlie wedge of watermelon – might as well serve it with a Sex and the City DVD), I may survive the embarrassment.

Monday (today when you read this), the big birthday day, will probably be a lazy lay-about in the hotel room until they kick us out day. This is usually filled with sparkly wine as soon as the eyes pop open and leftover sweeties, savories and any other nourishment that allows for as little movement from the bed as possible.

Tuesday it’s back to work…but just a few days and the birthday celebrations continue…
